Dear Friends,
Willis Advertising recently completed a three-part direct mail campaign for new client Westec Interactive, one of the first companies in the nation to provide interactive security products and services.
Westec wanted a standout campaign that would get in front of senior executives. "We're aware that tons of direct mail gets addressed to these people," said Andrea Herbert, marketing communications manager. "We needed something that was going to grab their attention. Get through the gatekeepers."
Willis created an impactful campaign that was a bit shocking, but tasteful. It identified the problems many companies experience when using security guards and highlighted the benefits of replacing guards with an interactive security system: reduced costs and liability, and increased efficiency.

Breakthrough Target-marketing Software Program Now Available
There is a unique new way to communicate with prospects, customers, distribution networks and employees, without the cost of e-mail, fax, direct mail, database management, telemarketing, or traditional media advertising. Its called the BroadCast ScreenSaver.
This patented technology allows licensed companies to cost-effectively market their products and services via messages sent directly through a ScreenSaver. Audiences can be targeted demographically and geographically, communications can be customized and personalized, and the technology is not subject to recent spam or "do-not-call" legislation.
"The technology capabilities are unlike any other communication vehicle," says Bud Willis, President of Orange County-based Willis Advertising. "And it makes it possible for a company to broadcast personalized messages, advertisements, video clips, animation or printable coupons, directly to the selected end-users office or home PC.
Willis Advertising, a full-service advertising agency founded in 1976, recently announced an exclusive agreement to market the proprietary BroadCast ScreenSaver. The program was created by Active Response Media, a Southern California software development company.
Companies license the BroadCast ScreenSaver program through Willis and distribute it via a download on their web site or by giving away a CD. When installing the product, the end-user answers a few brief survey questions. The answers to these questions make it possible to target future messages.
The companies currently using the service are getting great results. These include well-known names like Lexus, Xerox, Discovery Channel, Intel, Ford Motor Company and others. Statistical reports show download rates of up to 88 percent and ad "click-throughs" to company web sites as high as 45 percent. These results are far greater than the less than one percent response typically seen from e-mail or direct mail marketing.
When asked why anyone would want to download the BroadCast ScreenSaver, Willis used an example of a company which manufactures golf equipment. "With every product purchased, they could provide a free ScreenSaver CD featuring photos of beautiful, world-class golf courses. For additional incentive, customers who install the program could be entered into a drawing to win a free golf trip and receive cost-saving coupons," explains Willis.
The golf equipment manufacturer would then be able to send customized messages, ads, and printable coupons to their customers whenever they want. "They have full control over the messaging and advertising process, and it doesnt involve e-mail or require any database management. The messages are sent directly through the BroadCast ScreenSaver," says Willis.
Screensavers, in general, are the second most popular download on the Internet, according to CNET, the leading technology media company. More than four billion screensavers have been downloaded and the current download rate is 4.8 million per week.
A custom BroadCast ScreenSaver is developed for each licensed organization and can be made from company-supplied photographs or selected from stock image sets. The end-user also has access to a library of stock image sets and can easily change their ScreenSaver images at any time.
The BroadCast Messaging Center maintains comprehensive reports for each licensed company as it pertains to their end-users. At any time, the company can see how many ScreenSavers have been installed, the number of active users, how many "proven views" of their ads have been recorded, and the number of "click-throughs" to the companys website.
The total cost of the BroadCast ScreenSaver basic license package is less than $11,000 for one year and includes 1,000 licensed end-users, 1,000 CD-ROM copies and unlimited text messaging. BroadCast ads, video clips and coupons are additionally charged on a "proven view" basis, plus conversion or development fees. A company can increase the number of licensed end-users at any time.
More information is available, along with a sample, in the BroadCast ScreenSaver section, or those interested can call Bud Willis for a free CD sample at (949) 454-0400.

Dear Friends,
When Newport Medical Instruments developed an innovative new ventilator product, they enlisted the help of Willis Advertising for design and marketing. The challenge was to create a more sophisticated look for the new product, while still coordinating with existing literature. To this end, Willis chose to keep the existing color scheme, modified selected design elements, and selected a smaller, more sophisticated font to develop a cleaner overall layout.
The collateral package includes a pocket folder, technical brochure, product brochure (still in development), four product inserts and one company insert. Willis also developed a coordinated print ad to run in trade publications. Please scroll down to view the materials.

October 2002
Dear Friends,
A start-up company developed a unique wine storage solution for condo and apartment dwellers, so compact it could actually fit under a bed or in a small closet. Willis Advertising came up with the name "Closet Wino" and developed a plan for marketing and distribution.
We designed a logo that was met with such enthusiasm that it launched an entire "signature line" of Closet Wino accessories and apparel. Willis has been involved with all aspects of the branding process, including product review and selection, Web site design and development, ads, sell sheets, and creative concepts for a humorous line of wine tasting T-shirts. The distinctive theme has been cost-effectively carried out in stark black and white.
Willis developed an online purchasing system at www.closetwino.com, located a national sales rep, and established wholesale distribution to gift shops at selected wineries from California to Tennessee. All this was achieved in one years time, and the Web site has already received visitors from over 45 countries. Please scroll down to view our Closet Wino samples.

Dear Friends,
Glendale Adventist Medical Center wanted a stand-out advertising campaign that would help position them as one of the areas leading medical institutions. Willis Advertising developed a series of large, full color ads with a sophisticated design in an elegant gold and black color scheme. The series received high regard from both consumers and the healthcare community and won several national awards. Click here to view these ads.
But Glendale Adventist wanted to take their advertising a step further. To compliment the ad campaign, they purchased a full-color newspaper cover wrap that runs the entire length of the paper as well as a 4-page, full-size newspaper insert. The cover wrap features the hospital's key services and their community education and outreach programs. The 4-page insert provides newsworthy information on break-through procedures, new medical equipment, and hospital services.
Please scroll down to view the first issues of the newspaper cover wrap and 4-page insert.

Dear Friends,
This month we are featuring a collateral package developed for Palomar Pomerado Health Foundation (PPHF). We were contracted to create coordinated literature for fundraising programs that would capitalize on their new tagline "Building a healthy foundation" but also utilize their graphic standards.
Willis designed a creative solution using the health systems background graphic and color palette and incorporated a new architectural image. Many of the materials were designed as masters that could be customized by PPHF for targeted fundraising efforts. The materials include an annual fundraising package, a follow-up package, event announcements, a proposal package, and fact sheets. Several other projects are also in the works.

Dear Friends,
Despite the struggling economy, Willis Advertising began work with seven new accounts in the first half of the year. These include: Dazz Motor Sports, Fitzgerald Formliners, Huntington Beach Hospital, Newport Imaging Center, Oceanside Historical Society, Palomar Pomerado Health Foundation, and Teledyne Controls.
Fitzgerald Formliners, Newport Imaging Center and Oceanside Historical Society selected Willis to create new logos and stationary packages, among other projects. In developing a new corporate identity, the goal is to create a unique and aesthetically pleasing logo that sends a message about the company. The logo must work in both black & white and color and should be clean, strong and timeless.
When developing a corporate identity for our clients, we begin by gaining a complete understanding of their business and identifying the image they want to convey. Please scroll down to view some logos we have recently developed. If you need help creating a new or updated identity for your company, call Willis Advertising at 949-454-0400.
Sincerely,

Dear Friends,
Many of our business-to-business clients find trade shows to be a valuable forum for marketing their products and developing leads and relationships. We help them achieve these goals by developing hand-out literature, videos/interactive presentations, and booth graphics.

Trade show booth graphics and collateral materials were developed for other clients as well, including ARINC, Jouve Data Management, and Newport Medical Instruments. Please scroll down to view the images.
